The Hwacha is an artillery unit from the Dynasty faction. They are equipped with Hwacha Arrows. |
Characteristics[]
The Hwacha is a firework based artillery of the Dynasty faction that is capable of dealing incredible amount of damage in an area. 60 arrows are shot in a rapid succession in just under 3 seconds. It is operated by the Hwacha Operator.
Appearance[]
The Hwacha is a war machine with 60 slots for firework arrows. The Hwacha Operator sits behind the Hwacha and dies with the Hwacha when it is destroyed.

Strategy[]
Usage[]
Place it in a position in order for it to hit a pack of enemies at the start, preferably behind a bottleneck such as a bridge or narrow street. Keep enemies from flanking your position and use friendly infantry to keep them at a good firing distance.
Cheerleaders will turn the Hwacha into a machine that can (metaphorically) black out the sun in a matter of seconds. if enough cheerleaders are present, the Hwacha can fire off a volley of arrows before the previous one is finished firing. Use with caution as the number of arrows fired can cause the game to lag EXTREMELY badly.
You should use the Hwacha against units that have a ton of health, like Pirate Queen, The King, Samurai Giants, The Da Vinci Tank, and even Tree Giants! Using the Hwacha against hordes of weak units isn't as effective, though. It is advised not to use this unit when the main battle will be in Close-combat as it can hurt enemy and friend alike.
It does not have sustained DPS, so it is effective to use it against hordes and large units (such as Mammoths, giants, and Kings).
The Hwacha can be weak against shielded units, unless the arrows can manage to hit the unit behind the shields.
Counter[]
Shielded units will prove effective, as well as units with higher reach. Try to minimize casualties by spreading out your units.
The Hwacha takes time to reload, so use fast-moving infantry or long-range Units to take out the Hwacha before it fires again. Dispersed units also help as the arrows tend not to spread that far apart.
Trivia[]
- A Painter can 1v1 a Hwacha and win!
- In the Pre-Alpha and Alpha release of the game, Hwacha use to fire only one volley, which the unit dies upon completion of the volley. This was changed in the Dynasty update in Early Access; they now can fire an unlimited amount of vollies.
- The Ballista, Hwacha, Cannon, and Da Vinci Tank's voices all sounded similar before the full release, all sharing the Ballista's voicelines. This was later updated, with the Cannon & Da Vinci Tank getting their own unique voicelines, while the Hwacha was given the Monkey King's old voicelines.
- If enough arrows hit, the Hwacha can take down a Da Vinci Tank in one volley.
- 2 Hwacha vollies can kill an Ice Giant.
- Hwachas do not fire their entire payload all at once, instead, they fire their arrows randomly.
- When a fast unit is coming at it is can sometimes fire behind it.
- The Hwacha shoots the most projectiles per shot than any other unit.
- You can possess the Hwacha and the driver separately, something you can't do with Catapults, Cannons, Ballistas, and other heavy machinery.
- If you give the Hwacha enough Cheerleaders it will be better than Artemis against large Units, since it shoots more; however, Artemis is better against smaller units (ex: disabled Super Peasant), since it is more accurate.
- A single Hwacha volley can deal about 12000 damage.
- The only units that can survive all of the Hwacha arrows are Ice Giant, Jarl, and Super/Dark Peasant.
- It now uses the old voice lines for the Monkey King.
- The Hwacha machine itself holds 60 arrows, but has slots for up to 126 arrows.
