The Banner Bearer is a support unit from the Legacy faction. They are equipped with the Stay Banner. |
Characteristics[]
The Banner Bearer is a Legacy faction unit who wields a large banner that it uses to keep ally Units stationary.
Location[]
Appearance[]
The Unit appears to be wearing an early 19th-century "shako" cap and military uniform. They carry a banner pole with a golden pommel and fittings. At the top of the staff is a cross-beam, and two small banners hang from the top of the cross-beam.
Unit Voice[]
Usage[]
The Banner Bearer, like the Flag Bearer and Cheerleader, boosts its allies. It uses its banner to magically make all of its allies not move. As previously stated, they will attack when enemies get close and brutally smash the enemy team, but they won't walk, which can be used for interesting strategies and armies; in particular, they're great for stationing units at choke points like bridges or narrow streets to prevent units from getting flanked and making ranged units like the Blowdarter stand in place and shoot. It's the opposite of the Flag Bearer.
Trivia[]
- The Banner Bearer is one of the only units in the legacy update that is being added in that's not a returning, previously scrapped unit.
- While it keeps units in place, keep in mind that sometimes units standing still can slide or slightly move forward either when idle or attacking; which can cause them to get out of the Bearer's AOE and start attacking and moving normally.
- The Banner Bearer's ability to make units stay in place doesn't affect the Super Peasant, which is a result of the Super Peasant's dependency on its attack (Unless you control the Super Peasant yourself, or it is under a weapon disabling effect like the one of the Ballooner).
- The Banner Bearer (along with the Healer and Flag Bearer) will automatically trigger a unit's spacebar ability when it isn't on cooldown
